Glasgow Airport's Courtyard by Marriott Hotel is backing local students to bring their bright ideas to reality.
We’re delighted to announce that the Courtyard by Marriott (Glasgow Airport) will partner with Orbit’s accelerator programme in Glasgow from 2019-2020.
The partnership will see the hotel invest in Orbit’s Glasgow programme which is set to support 100 teenagers from schools across Glasgow, Dunbartonshire, Renfrewshire, Inverclyde, and Lanarkshire. Orbit’s accelerator programme supports 16-19 year old students from schools across the UK to launch businesses and secure jobs in the industries of tomorrow. Our twelve month accelerator programme combines exclusive workshops, expert mentoring, and access to leading business figures.
To date, over 450 teenage “Orbiteers” have graduated from the programme with some Orbiteers building six-figure businesses before their eighteenth birthday.
The hotel’s general manager, Kuldeep Badesha, said:
“Courtyard Marriott Glasgow Airport Hotel is proud to be backing Orbit’s Glasgow programme and supporting the next generation of entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs in Glasgow. It is a great initiative that allows for key business skills and knowledge to be learned with Orbit’s unique twist to keep the programme both engaging and informative. The experience is fully immersive and really pushes the Orbiteers outside their comfort zones in a safe and supported environment.”
“In the hospitality industry which is ever changing and dynamic, it would be great to see more home talent coming up the ranks and developing the industry in years to come and the team here at the hotel are excited to be a part of this experience!”
Orbit’s managing director, Kieran Aitken, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership and his anticipation for the results that Glasgow Orbiteers will achieve with the Hotel’s support.
“I’m delighted that the Courtyard by Marriott are backing our Orbiteers in Glasgow. Orbit’s first programme launched in Glasgow in 2015 with just thirteen Orbiteers. In the coming year, over 100 students will come through the accelerator programme from schools across Glasgow.
I was introduced to the hotel’s team through Paul Skovron, who is a champion with Orbit’s Glasgow team. The Courtyard’s team has a genuine passion for supporting young people in Glasgow and we’re really grateful for their support.”
